amica24 COVID-19 Update

Hello all,

We hope you are all keeping safe and well.

We just wanted to keep you up to date with how our service is operating during the pandemic, and what it means for our customers.

Our Contact Centre is answering all assistive technology and telecare calls as usual, although volumes of calls have increased due to the COVID-19 crisis. We have added to our workforce over the past two weeks and to ensure our Operators remain safe and well, we have made arrangements for staff who are required to self-isolate to work from home and have moved all non-essential workers out of the Contact Centre environment. We are currently dispersing our daytime customer service calls to the rest of The Community Housing Group and this will free up additional staff to supplement our existing resources for our regular services.

A significant development this week has been the confirmation that Technology Enabled Care Services (TECS) workers have been classified as Key Workers under Government guidelines, enabling us to maintain this essential service while the UK is in lockdown. We continue to work with key stakeholders to help support the safety and well-being of the people we look after during this difficult time, including working with the NHS, social care and emergency services, as well as the TEC Services Association.

Maintaining the services of emergency contacts (family members, neighbours, carers, etc.) has become increasingly difficult since the introduction of the UK’s stay at home policy, as many are now no longer willing to be called out to check on service users. This is placing a greater strain on responders and emergency services, as in some cases we have no alternative option.

Our Installation & Maintenance Service is currently only responding to urgent installations and critical faults in order to reduce time in service user’s homes.

Further information is available on our website www.amica24.org and if you have any queries then please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

Kind regards,

Rupert Lawrence
